For decades, factory automation relied on physical isolation, keeping machines safely locked behind fences and disconnected from the internet. Today, that air gap is entirely gone. The rapid convergence of information technology and operational technology has exposed critical manufacturing infrastructure to sophisticated digital exploits, forcing a radical rethink of factory safety.
This shift is being driven by the sudden demand for cloud-enabled fleet management and real-time operational analytics. Modern assembly lines require constant data transmission to optimize throughput, meaning robots must be integrated directly into enterprise networks.
