Cardiovascular health issues often develop quietly over long periods, with critical warning signs going undetected until an acute emergency takes place. Conventional clinical diagnostic tests depend heavily on centralized laboratories, which can introduce costly delays when rapid clarity is most urgent. Based in the small Italian town of Cantiano, BM Diagnostics set out to address this medical challenge by shifting diagnostic capabilities directly into everyday environments. Founded in 2023, the medtech startup focuses on bringing point-of-care testing into homes, clinics, and community spaces to ensure early cardiac damage is identified as quickly as possible. Decentralising this process helps bridge the gap between complex clinical data and routine personal health management.

The venture is led by chief executive officer Matteo Boldreghini, working alongside key team members including Donatella Lamarca, Sara Lazzarini, Riccardo Rosati, and Damiano Petrungaro. Together, the team builds user-friendly point-of-care devices specifically engineered for rapid cardiac evaluation. Built around established lateral flow technology, their diagnostic kits require only a simple finger-prick blood sample to deliver immediate indicators of heart damage. This straightforward testing approach allows users to gather actionable biological data instantly without needing specialist clinical training or heavy laboratory machinery. By removing operational barriers, the company makes health monitoring accessible across diverse user groups.

In tandem with hardware solutions like the HeartBeat Test, the firm created TestWise, an artificial intelligence tool focused on advanced cardiac risk scoring. This intelligent software layer analyzes incoming diagnostic inputs to deliver immediate risk assessments, effectively bridging physical blood sampling with digital data insights. Beyond manufacturing finished diagnostic products, BM Diagnostics also produces essential raw materials for rapid test kits and distributes predictive genetic tests across the healthcare sector. Their combined business model connects raw material production with digital intelligence to establish a robust framework for proximity care. This dual focus supports both individual self-testing and broader healthcare distribution channels.

The primary user base includes individuals managing pre-existing cardiac risk factors such as high cholesterol, hypertension, or diabetes. It also serves fitness enthusiasts tracking physiological wellness, as well as caregivers monitoring vulnerable family members with chronic heart conditions. By translating complicated biological signals into straightforward health metrics, the diagnostic tools empower ordinary people to manage personal wellness proactively. Having clear answers in non-clinical settings enables earlier conversations with medical professionals, fostering timely intervention before severe cardiac events occur. Access to immediate testing offers peace of mind for families managing long-term health concerns.

From its original research base in Cantiano, the Italian company has steadily expanded its footprint into international healthtech ecosystems. In December 2025, the startup was selected for the Google for Startups Cloud Program, gaining valuable cloud infrastructure resources to scale its data processing capacity. The founding team continues to expand its manufacturing operations while refining its AI diagnostic tools for global distribution. Looking toward future international milestones, BM Diagnostics will present their rapid testing innovations and point-of-care solutions at Web Summit 2026. This ongoing expansion reflects a commitment to making cardiac diagnostics available whenever and wherever they are needed.
